DeKalb group collects unwanted Halloween candy for active military

DEKALB, Ill. (WTVO) — Have some extra Halloween candy lying around? You can send it to our troops serving overseas.

Once again, Sweets4Troops is collecting Halloween candy.

Michael Embrey is a U.S. AirForce veteran. He started the event in 2014.

Last year, Sweets4Troops collected 3,000 pounds of treats for the military.

Donations will be accepted at the following locations through November 18th.

  • DeKalb Fire Department, 7th Street (700 Pine Street) in DeKalb
  • Sycamore Fire Department, 535 DeKalb Avenue in Sycamore
  • Daily Chronicle Newspaper, 1586 Barber Green Road in DeKalb
  • Le Print Express, 1950 DeKalb Avenue in Sycamore
  • County Liquors, 625 E State St in Sycamore
  • Papa Johns Pizza 203 W Lincoln Hwy. in DeKalb
