Drunk driving suspect spits on officers during arrest for hit and run

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WTVO) — Janesville Police say a drunk driver sideswiped another car in a hit and run. Officers say they were able to arrest 42-year-old Jeremy Prinkey for his 6th OWI once he arrived home.

Around 4:18 p.m. on Wednesday, police say they received a call about a possibly drunk driver headed eastbound on W. Court Street. About the same time, they received another call about a hit and run which happened on W. Court and S. Arch Street.

The driver of a silver Chevy Traverse allegedly side-swiped another car. The victim was able to get the vehicle’s license plate and report it to police.

Officers then located the vehicle in the driveway of a house in the 400 block of Harding Street.

Police say they took the resident, Prinkey, into custody after he showed signs of impairment. Officers said Prinkey spit on them and made threats to an officer during his arrest.

Prinkey has 5 prior OWI’s, according to police.

He was charged with his 6th OWI, Possessing Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle, Hit and Run, Operating while Revoked, Bail Jumping, Battery to a Police Officer, and Resisting Arrest.

Prinkey, who lives in Broadhead, was taken to the Rock County Jail.
