ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Each day, Rockford Police Officers patrol the city, and on Tuesday, East High School students were able to get an “inside look” at what a day is like for police.

The “Newcomers class” visited Rockford Police District 1 Headquarters to learn the basics of law enforcement.

The class has students from 10 different countries.

Rockford Police talked to them about how they overcome language barriers in an emergency situation, and also showed the kids the best practices for traffic stops.

The students also got a look at one of the squad cars.
