SPRINGFIELD (WCIA) – Illinois State Police gathered to remember their fallen Saturday. Trooper Brook Jones-Story is among those honored at the ceremony.
The family of Trooper Brooke Jones-Story unveiled her name engraved in the Memorial Wall. Bag pipes played and ISP Acting Director, Brendan Kelly spoke during the ceremony commemorating officers that gave their lives at Illinois State Police Memorial Park in Springfield. While losing anyone in uniform is difficult, Senator Tammy Duckworth says losing a trooper like Jones-Story is especially hard.
“Especially for Brooke Jones-Story, someone who’s dedicated their life to protecting and defending us to lose someone really at the prime of her career is especially devastating”, said Senator Duckworth.
Jones-Story was killed in March after a semi struck her as she was inspecting another semi on US 20 near Freeport. She was on the force for 12 years.
