Firefighters rescue two people from roof of burning home

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Two people were rescued from the roof of a house on fire in Rockford Monday night.

The fire happened around 11:45 p.m. in the 2100 block of Princeton Avenue.

When firefighters first arrived, they reported seeing heavy smoke coming from the home.

The victims were rescued and were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control within 12 minutes. Damage to the home is estimated to be $15,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
