ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Four juveniles are in custody following armed robberies at Rockford Dollar General and Family Dollar stores, and then allegedly leading police on a vehicle pursuit.

Rockford Police say they were called to the Dollar General at 1405 Kishwaukee Street on Saturday, June 8th around 6:30 p.m., where workers reported that four masked, male suspects — all armed with handguns — entered the business and demanded money.

The employee gave the suspects cash and said they fled in a black four-door car.

At 7:45 p.m., police were called to Family Dollar, at 501 North Springfield Avenue, for another armed robbery report. Police say a clerk reported being approached by four armed suspects while outside the store. The suspects forced the employee back into the store and demanded money.

The clerk and another employee complied and gave the robbers money from the register. The suspects then fled.

Shortly before 10 p.m., Winnebago County Sheriff’s Deputies say they located a stolen vehicle on Montague Road with four occupants, who matched descriptions of the suspects involved in the robberies.

Winnebago County police, Illinois State Troopers, and Rockford Police pursued the vehicle, which eventually stopped in the 5100 block of Linden Road near the Beacon Hill Apartments. The suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot, but all four were caught and arrested.

Officers recovered BB guns, masks, hoods, gloves and money.
