FREEPORT, Ill. (WTVO) — Freeport Police are warning the public that three thefts of UPS packages were reported this week.

According to police, the packages were stolen from homes on Winter Drive, Barley Ridge Trail and Country Court sometime between late afternoon and early evening on Wednesday.

Police say some of the stolen items were found discarded behind the vacant Shopko building at 555 W. South Street.

At 11:04 a.m. on Friday, December 6th, police were called to a residence in the 3100 block of Farmdale Lane for a reported package theft which had just occurred.

The resident told police that a male suspect was seen taking the package off her porch, and leaving in a dark color Chevrolet.

Police later stopped the vehicle, driven by a 17-year-old teen. Officers say some of the stolen packages were recovered.

During the investigation, police identified two additional suspects. A 15-year-old male was found at his residence and was detained for questioning, and police say they’re looking for another 15-year-old suspect.
