High demand for marijuana shuts down Rockford dispensary for 3rd day in a row

Local News

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — For the third day in a row, Rockford’s only recreational marijuana dispensary has had to shut down its line early due to high demand.

Crowds at the Sunnyside Dispensary, at 2696 McFarland Road, have not died down since recreational cannabis became legal on January 1st.

The store has been closing down its line early each day, as lines have kept customers waiting for hours.

On Friday it capped its sales line at 4 p.m. to ensure those waiting would make it through the store by 10 p.m.

Customers are only allowed to buy one product from each of the available categories.

Medical patients can still purchase in-store until 8 p.m.
