Holiday sales were up this year

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Many people went to the stores to purchase Christmas gifts during the holiday season.

Sales were up 8.%% from a year ago, according to Mastercard Spending Pulse. The results, which cover November 1 through Christmas Eve, were fueled by purchases of clothing and jewelry.

Online sales were up 11% from a year ago, and 61% from 2019.
