ROCKFORD (WTVO) – Hungry people flocked to City Market Pavilion to try dishes from dozens food trucks at the 2nd Annual Rock River Food Truck Fest.
Food trucks lined the street around the pavilion, offering all kinds of options from tacos, to bacon themed dishes, and every thing in between. People got to pick from small tasting plates, so they could try a little from a bunch of trucks, or hit up their go to food truck for a full meal.
Organizers say, after the unexpectedly large turnout at last year’s inaugural fest they had to go back to the drawing board and expand the foot print to make sure everyone that comes out have a good time.
“We had like 7 food trucks and 2500 people showed up. So we were largely overwhelmed. But we knew that just adding more food trucks is an easy fix and in the mean time between last year and this year there’s been like 11 other food trucks like locally that have popped up.”, Founder of Rock River Food Truck Fest, Tyler Pickering explained.
Plates ranged from $5 to $20, and organizers say the event is also a good chance for the trucks to try out new menu items as well.
