Janesville man arrested in armed domestic violence incident

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WTVO) — 24-year-old Daniel Simmons allegedly threatened to shoot people following a domestic dispute Wednesday morning at an apartment in Janesville, and barricaded himself inside the residence after police were called.

Janesville Police responded to the apartment, at 944 N. Wright Road, around 9:17 a.m. for the initial report of a domestic dispute.

The victim told officers that Simmons was armed with a handgun and had made the threats. Police set a perimeter around the building and called in a negotiator, who was able to get Simmons to come out of the building at 9:55 a.m.

He was charged with Domestic Violence and Disorderly Conduct.

Simmons was transported to the Rock County Jail.
