ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — 33-year-old Delaneo Love was arrested on stolen weapons charges Monday after being chased down by a Rockford Police K9.

Around 11:30 p.m., police attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Huffman Boulevard and Brown Avenue, but the suspect sped away.

Once the car came to a stop, police say Love ran away on foot and was chased by the K9 Officer, and he was taken into custody near Hecker and Custer Avenues.

Police say they recovered a loaded handgun, which was discovered to be stolen. Officers also found an extended magazine, according to police.

Love was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, and charged with Unlawful Use of Weapons by a Felon, Aggravated Fleeing to Elude, Resisting an Officer, and Driving on a Revoked License.

He was taken to the Winnebago County Jail.
