ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) – Laundry Love Rockford celebrates it’s mission to provide clean clothes to those in need.
The group held an ice cream social Wednesday evening, marking it’s three year anniversary. The organization is part of a national movement that provides free laundry services. It’s part of the Rockford Area Lutheran Ministries.
The program is open to anyone who can demonstrate need, by showing a Medicaid card or another form of ID. Laundry Love’s co-founder says the group helps fulfill a basic necessity.
“It’s difficult to look for a job. It’s difficult to go to school It’s difficult to do anything, if you don’t have clean clothes,” said Laundry Love Rockford Program Coordinator Bob Black. “And we decided that this was a need we could meet here in this community.”
Laundry Love events are held on the third Wednesday of every month.
