Local News

ROCKFORD, Illinois — Brittany Lincicome’s ties to Rockford are now greater than ever. The LPGA golfer gave birth to her first child in Rockford Monday afternoon.

Emery Reign Gouws was born at 3:50 p.m. CT Monday at Javon Bea Hospital. She was born two months premature and weighed 4 pounds 11 ounces at birth according to Lincicome who posted photos and a video of her daughter on Instagram (Brittany1golf) and twitter.

Lincicome also posted the following message: “She is doing great. They took her off oxygen this morning. Which is a great sign. Still in need of prayers she keeps progressing and we get to go home sooner rather (than) later.”

Lincicome arrived in Rockford Sunday evening to participate in the Rockford Pro Am golf tournament on Monday, but she went into labor Sunday night. Lincicome has made several appearances in Rockford before for the Pro Am and she once was the featured speaker at Rockford’s Hall of Fame Golf induction ceremony. She also was a key figure in helping this year’s Pro Am attract 13 other LPGA golfers to participate in the event.

Lincicome is married to Dewald Gouws.
