Man arrested for sex crimes after month-long investigation

BOONE COUNTY, Ill. (WTVO) — A 42-year-old Hamphire man is in the Boone County Jail after he was arrested and charged with unlawful grooming.

The Belvidere Police Department says on Friday, September 6, it finished a month-long investigation by arresting Javier Ruiz on sex offenses.

Officers served a search warrant at a house in the 700 block of Bruce Drive in Hampshire around 9:00 a.m. Friday.

Ruiz was taken into custody without incident.

The Boone County State’s Attorney’s Office is reviewing the investigation for additional charges against Ruiz.
