Man bludgeoned with hammer outside Family Dollar, three suspects sought

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police say a 24-year-old man was attacked by three suspects as he left a Family Dollar store on Sunday night.

Police say the attack happened around 7 p.m. at the Family Dollar at 3824 Auburn Street.

The victim said one of his attackers, described as three black males in their twenties, was armed with a hammer.

After the attack, the victim went to the McDonald’s, at 3710 Auburn Street, to call police. He was later taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

The first suspect was last seen wearing a camouflage hat, yellow shirt, camouflage pants and white shoes.

The second suspect was armed with the hammer, had short dreadlocks and was last seen wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.

The third suspect had long dreadlocks and was last seen wearing a white shirt and red pants.
