BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) — A 28-year-old man was killed in a shooting around 9:39 p.m.. Sunday night in General Mills Park, according to police.
Police say officers found the victim unconscious upon arrival, and tried to resuscitate him. He was taken to St. Anthony’s hospital, where he died.
Belvidere Police have not released the name of the victim, and say the crime is still under investigation.
Police say they are looking for two suspects who fled the scene in a dark colored SUV. Witnesses said one suspect was wearing a mask, red shirt and black shorts, and the other was wearing a black shirt and black pants.
Chief Shane Woody said the murder would be Belvidere’s first homicide since 2015.
