Man killed in Thursday shooting identified

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) – The man killed in an early morning shooting Thursday, has been identified.

According to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office, Antonio Thompson, 32, died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Rockford Police were called to the area of 8th Street and 11th Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday morning. Officers found Thompson outside an apartment building. He had been shot several times. Thompson was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives from the Rockford Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit are investigating. Investigators say the shooting does not appear to be random.
