Man wanted after being chased by police and firing a gun

JANESVILLE, WIS. (WTVO) — Janesville Police Officers responded to a disturbance at 507 S. Academy Street on Thursday.

Witnesses say several people were fighting over a parking spot but the suspect had already left the scene when officers arrived.

They found the man on Academy Street north of Wilson Street. Officers identified him as Antonio D. Simms and say as soon as they tried to arrest him, Simms ran.

While chasing Simms, police say he pulled a handgun out of his pants and fired three shots into the air.

Officers were able to recover the gun but Simms got away.

No officers were injured and none fired their weapons during the incident.

Simms is wanted for felon in possession of a firearm, recklessly endangering safety and obstructing/resisting an officer.
