Mercy Health’s 6th Annual Children’s Health and Safety Event

Local News

ROCKFORD (WTVO) – Mercy Health’s Rockton Avenue location had a party in their parking lot.

Kids on Rockford’s West side got to play with bubbles, run through a giant brain, and pretend to be doctors and nurses themselves at the 6th Annual Children’s Health and Safety Event. Mercy Health throws this event in hopes to educate kids and their parents on how to live a healthy lifestyle. Organizers say the yearly event allows families to get familiar with people in health care, in a stress free and fun environment with hopes of leaving kids with less anxiety about going to the doctor, and with some new school supplies too.

“I think that they really like how generous the health system is with the fun things that they do and school supplies that we give away. And the opportunity to talk with our doctors, our nurses, our paramedics, we have the helicopter here. They get to get inside the helicopter”, Mercy Health’s Director of Women’s and Children’s Services, Linn Carter said.

Mercy Health gave away 100, filled backpacks to families at Saturday’s event.
