ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Mercyhealth has announced it will be spending $70 million to upgrade its Rockton Avenue campus.
New renovations include water remediation work, a modernized surgical prep and recovery area, a makeover of its ICU and Medical/Surgical units, and a newer, modernized look to the majority of the hospitals’ private rooms, nurses stations, hallways and more.
“We are proud of the impact we have made over the last four years in the Rockford region,” said President and CEO Javon Bea. “Our One Hospital, Two Campuses plan has shown our commitment to all sides of town with our steadfast commitment to improving our Rockton Avenue campus as we continue to provide exceptional health care services there, and the opening of our $500 million dollar state-of-the-art Javon Bea Hospital-Riverside campus on I-90.”
Improvements to protect the Hospital on its campus include water remediation efforts incorporating re-grading, creating more green space, and constructing a second, larger retention pond which will be located along Lawndale Avenue where the majority of the structures will be leveled.
The renovations are scheduled to begin immediately.
