ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A 33-year-old man was shot in front of the Dollar General store, in the 2500 block of South Alpine Road, on Friday, according to Rockford Police.

Around 6:05 p.m., police said the victim got into a “heated verbal exchange” with two men and was subsequently shot in the stomach. The suspects were described as between 16-22 years old, both Black and with thin builds.

The victim is said to be recovering at a local hospital.
