(WTVO) — An Illinois government watchdog said that more than 170 people could face prosecution for defrauding the federal “Paycheck Protection Program.”
That is the one that that gave out millions of loans for businesses hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Most of those loans were subsequently forgiven, but state investigators said that the cases referred to law enforcement involve people who took more than $20,000 to which they were not legally entitled.
