Police: Residents chase and detain drugged-out Janesville man after hit and run

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WTVO) — Janesville Police say two citizens chased down and detained a man who was allegedly under the influence of drugs when he crashed into a parked car.

Police say the incident happened at 1:07 p.m. Sunday in the area of Glen Street and N. Garfield Street. Witnesses said a vehicle struck a parked vehicle, and then the driver ran away from the crash. A neighbor gave chase.

Then, police responded to E. Centerway Street and N. Garfield where they found two citizens detaining the suspected driver, 34-year-old Shannon Patterson.

Police say Patterson appeared to be under the influence of drugs and cocaine was found in his car.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and was charged with Hit and Run, 4th OWI, Possesion with Intent to Deliver Cocaine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Operating on a Revoked License, and a Parole Violation.
