ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford area realtors donned swimsuits Thursday to make a ‘splash’ for a local cause, taking part in an Epic Water Battle fundraiser.
The Epic Water Battle was held by the Young Professionals Network to raise money for Rockford’s Family Peace Center.
Armed with squirt guns, water balloons and super-blasters, teams of ten opponents faced off for the fifth annual “Rock the Block” event, taking place at Sportscore One, at 1228 Elmwood Road, which also featured a unicorn sprinkler and a dunk tank.
Organizers say the partnership helps fight a widespread problem in the community.
“We’re really excited to partner with a different group than we’ve ever traditionally partnered with, and are really excited many of the Rockford Area Realtors’ Young Professionals Network are really excited and have connected with the issue,” said the City’s Family Peace Center Project Manager, Sierra Kellen. “So, we’re super excited for the partnership.”
The Family Peace Center, described as a “one-stop shop” for domestic violence and sexual assault victims and their children, is expected to open in July 2020.
