Renovated downtown RMTD bus station opens

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Commuters began boarding buses at the renovated Rockford Mass Transit transfer center in downtown Rockford on Monday.

City leaders say the new design improves foot traffic for riders transferring buses downtown.

The new customer waiting area will utilize the inner drive on the RMTD property on both State Street and Court Street as well as the curb lanes also along State Street and Court Street.

Buses assigned to berths A, C and E can be found on the W. State wing along the curb.

Buses assigned to berths B, D, and F will be situated on the inner drive of the W. State wing.

Those buses assigned to berths I, K, and M will be located along the Court Street wing, while buses in berths J, L, N will be located along the inner drive of the Court Street wing.

All express buses will be dispatched from berth H, on the inner drive in front of the terminal. Wayfinding signage will be located throughout the property directing passengers to their buses.
