Rockford begins work to stop Keith Creek erosion

Local News

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The banks of Keith Creek are badly eroded between Fifth Street and Railroad Avenue.

To stop the erosion, the City reshaped the banks and installed sheet piles and rocks.

The City also removed the Fifth and Eighth Street bridges over the creek.

Renovations are part of the City’s capital improvement plan for 2019. The cost of the entire project is budgeted at $2 million.

Phase two of the project, focusing on Seventh Street to Railroad Avenue, will be completed this summer.
