Rockford cyclist marks 1,000th day of cycling by biking 17 hours straight

Local News

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — D.J. Wilson is the captain of the Rockford biking group “Team Fur Bandit,” and he’s been biking every day for the past 1,000 days.

To mark the milestone, Wilson planned to ride 1,000 minutes — about 17 hours.

Near the Nicholas Conservatory on Tuesday, Wilson spoke with reporters, saying his trek helps raise awareness of the sport in the Rockford community.

“Every little bit [of attention] that cycling gets in Rockford helps us when it comes to building bike paths and other infrastructure that’s important to us,” he said.

Wilson started his ride in Loves Park at 5 a.m. He biked all the way out to Capron, back to Rockford, and then out to Pecatonica.
