ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – Rockford Fire Department says a fire is under control at an auto shop late Thursday morning.

Smoke could be seen coming from State Line Auto Parts, at 1100 Kilburn Avenue, just before noon.

The first engine arriving on the scene saw heavy smoke pouring from the rear of the building, fire officials said. Workers were evacuated from the premises.

Fire crews reported hearing explosions inside the building, from compressed gas cylinders.

It took approximately 20 minutes to bring the fire under control. No one was injured.

Investigators determined that the fire was caused accidentally, by cutting torch activities.

Damage to the building was estimated at $50,000
