ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Rockford Fire Department extinguished a house fire at 2106 School Street Friday morning.
Crews were called out shortly after 7:30 a.m.
Firefighters noticed heavy fire blowing from the rear of the building as they arrived on the scene.
Neighbors told firefighters the building wasn’t occupied but was searched just in case as it was being extinguished.
Most of the damage occurred in the back of the building, first, and the second floor of the house, which resulted in $40,000 in damage.
There were no injuries while extinguishing the fire but the house is unlivable.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
