Rockford hosting ‘hydrant parties’ for local kids to cool off

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Rockford Fire and Water Departments plan to help kids find relief from the high heat forecast for Wednesday by hosting “hydrant parties.”

The department created a large sprinkler system which it plans to connect to several hydrants in cul-de-sacs or blocked off streets.

Wednesday, July 17

1 p.m to 2:15 p.m. at Leather Court and Jefferson @ Fairgrounds

2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Highland Park @ Rural and Roland

Thursday, July 18

1 to 2:15 p.m. at Andrews Park @ Central and Sherman

2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at 25th Street Park

Friday, July 19

1 to 2:15 p.m. at Police District 3 Javelin and New Towne

2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Saturn Park @ Shiloh and Garrett Lane
