Rockford Police host ‘Cookie with a Cop’

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – Rockford Police use cookies to strengthen the bond between the department and those it protects and serves.

McDonald’s on Kishwaukee Street hosted the “Cookie with a Cop” event. Kids got the chance to snack on cookies, while getting to know the officers. Police say it gives them a chance to break down the barriers that often exist between them and the public.

“A lot of times when we see kids, or deal with people, it’s because they’re calling because they’re not having a good day,” said Rockford Police Officer Kaera Watson. “So, it’s nice to see them and experience them in a positive environment, to build those relationships that you can use towards the future.”

As for Officer Watson, her pick for favorite cookie is chocolate chip.
