Rockford Police investigate Fourth of July shooting

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) – Rockford Police investigate a Fourth of July shooting on the city’s west side.

Officers were called to the 1100 block of Preston Street, near South Avon Street, just after 10 p.m. Thursday night.

Investigators say an argument among a group of people outside a home led to the shooting. Four men, ages 32, 33, 38, and 47 were shot. All four were taken to a local hospital. The severity of their injuries is not known.

Police say the shooting was not random.
