Rockford Police investigate after man shot during carjacking

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) ─ Rockford Police investigate after a man is shot during a Monday evening carjacking.

Officers were called to a shooting at Conoco, 3135 N. Rockton Ave., around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Officers found a 57-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital. Authorities say his injuries are non-life threatening.

Investigators learned the man was in the gas station parking lot when was robbed and shot by two suspects. The suspects then fled in the victim’s gray Jeep SUV.

The stolen Jeep was found a short time later by Rockford Police officers. The SUV had collided with two parked cars in the 2100 block of Douglas Street.

Police say the investigation is active and ongoing. No other details were given.
