ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Rockford Police Department made more DUI arrests in 2018 than any other police department in the state, a study finds.
According to the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists, the Rockford PD made 552 arrests in 2018.
Aurora was second with 446 arrests, with Decatur in third with 391.
Rockford has consistently placed within the top 8 departments on the AAIM’s survey since 2007, with 2018 representing a 12.7% increase since 2019.
“Impaired driving has been and will remain a high priority for the Rockford Police Department. We are proud to consistently be one of the top agencies for combating DUI and will continue to strive to make our roadways safer by arresting those who choose to drive intoxicated or under the influence of drugs,” said Police Chief Dan O’Shea.
The AAIM places Chicago in its own category because of its size.
