Rockton man charged with sexual assault of a child

ROCKTON, Ill. (WTVO) — 46-year-old James D. Ward has been charged with sexually assaulting a victim who was under the age of 13 when the abuse began in 2017.

The Rockton Police Department says it became aware of allegations against Ward on May 24th, 2019.

Ward was arrested during a follow up investigation.

He faces up to 60 years in prison on five counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault.

Ward is in custody at the Winnebago County Jail on $750,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned on June 14th
