ROCKFORD (WTVO) – Dozens of robotics teams teams headed to Rock Valley College to show off and battle their mechanical creations.

Students got their robots ready to face off in the 7th annual Rock River Robotics Off Season Competition.

Thirty-two teams from four different states, and some who even call the Stateline home had their joy stick hands ready to compete.

The students used robots made earlier in the year for competitions.

The showcase helps students keep their wheels greased, and get a look at who can help take the drivers seat next season.

“This is a chance to play with our robots again, and try out our new drivers. many teams had drivers graduate and so this is just a fun event for the kids to try their hands at the joy sticks and game controls.”, Co-Chair of Rock River Robotics Competition Karen Hill said.

The Rock Valley College Foundation also gave away $2,000 in scholarships to four competitors.
