Teen dies in BMX Midwest National Race crash in Rockford

ROCKFORD (WTVO) – 15 year old Carson Stoffel died Sunday night in a Rockford Hospital after a mid race crash at the BMX Midwest Nationals at Searls Park.

There is no word yet if any other racers sustained injuries.

USA BMX released this statement: 

“We are deeply saddened by Carson’s passing and our thoughts and prayers go out to his father, Jake Stoffel, his mother, Krista Rohrabaugh, his brother, Chandler, and his sister, Bryleigh. To Carson’s family, we would like to extend our sincere condolences and assure the Stoffel family that USA BMX will do everything to assist and support them through this difficult time.”

It is with heavy hearts that we pass on some unthinkable news. Hug your kids tightly, then hug them again. Our thoughts are with his family and all the lives this tragedy touches.
