ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police say three men may be responsible for three early morning robberies.
At 3 a.m., police say a 21-year-old woman had her backpack stolen by three men who approached her in the 2900 block of Lund Avenue.
No one was hurt, and the suspects were described as wearing black clothing with their faces covered.
At 3:30 a.m., police say a 54-year-old man was tackled and beaten by two men who tried to steal his phone in the 3200 block of 11th Street.
Officers said that the victim said he was walking north on 11th Street when a male suspect got out of a vehicle and began following him.
According to authorities, the driver of the vehicle and another suspect tackled the victim and beat him and took his phone, but the phone was later located laying in the grass a short distance away.
According to officials, both suspects are described as Hispanic males, one in his early 20’s with a mustache and goatee and the other wearing a white bandanna over his face.
Then, at 3:40 a.m., a 48-year-old man said he had pulled into a parking lot in the 2700 block of 8th Street to retrieve belongings from a vehicle when a man approached him, asking for directions.
The victim said the suspect then demanded his wallet. When he refused, the suspect hit him and then a second man got out of a vehicle and hit him as well.
The victim described the vehicle as a blue hatchback.
