Volunteers wanted to help wrap books as toddler gifts

Local News

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Volunteers for Transform Rockford wrapped gifts Wednesday designed to help toddlers prepare for school.

The organization’s second annual Book Drive was held last month. The books will be wrapped and delivered next week to kids enrolled in early childhood programs.

Organizers of the event say they’ve collected nearly 5,000 books.

Tranform Rockford’s Executive Director David Sidney says the best part of the event is seeing children’s reactions when they open the gifts.

“I really get excited about seeing the students, their eyes just light up…in terms of their joy of receiving books for Christmas,” he said.

Those interested in volunteering to help wrap books can sign up by visiting transformrockford.org.
