Two people are extricated from car after 3 vehicle car crash Sunday

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Update to the Sunday afternoon crash on Chestnut Street and Winnebago Street intersection in downtown Rockford.

On Sunday, July 28th, around 3 p.m. Rockford Fire Department responded to a three vehicle crash at Chestnut Street and Winnebago Street.

The Rockford Fire Department had to use the Jaws of Life to cut two people from a blue minivan that was turned on its side. They were then transported to the hospital.

Six people in total were involved in the collision. Two out of the five were in the blue vehicle. They were taken to SwedishAmerican with minor injuries. The two people inside the sedan were taken to Mercy Hospital on Rockton Ave with facial lacerations and minor injuries. The driver and passenger in the third car were not injured.

The collision caused about $4,000 in damage to a nearby building as well.
