Winter may have come late this year, but for some stateline sledders it’s better late than never.
“We haven’t had much snow this year, so it’s been really nice to have this snow. It’s making the sledding hill really fun especially since it’s kind of icy as well, so it makes it really fast to go down,” says Rockford resident Blaze Johnson.
Groups filed in at the Twin Sister Hills Park to have some fun. And for many, New Years day was the first opportunity to dust off those sleds.
“The grandkids spent the night for New Years Eve and they wanted to go out and burn some energy, so here we are,” adds Rockford resident Sonia Pofelski.
With a drop in temperature and high winds, many chose to spend their day indoors. But those who were out sledding say there’s nothing quite like going out in the snow with the whole family.
“There’s more interaction. They support each other. They cheer each other on,” says Pofeslki.
And they’re even offering some advice of their own.
“I think everybody should come out and have a little fun on the sledding hill while there’s still snow available,” Johnson urges.
And Pofelski adds,”It’s a great way to burn off a little energy and have a good time and enjoy the outdoors.”
