Rockford, Ill. – Unemployment rates are up over the year in November in eleven of Illinois’ metropolitan areas, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Illinois Department of Employment Security.  The Rockford MSA increased to 9.3% in November 2018 from 4.8% in November of 2017.

Officials say a temporary layoff contributed to that increase.

16,000 people were estimated to be unemployed for the month of November 2018.
