Sunday morning, Snow Park at Alpine Hills, 4402 Larson Avenue, had around a hundred people show up, ready to take advantage of yesterdays snowfall.
“It’s been great to actually have snow to do fun stuff in.” said snow tuber Rachel Bradt,
Mother Nature gave tubers two inches of fresh snow to play with, giving the Rockford snow park a chance to set a new attendance record.
“Actually we had really good attendance and we’ve had our best January so far.” said Snow Park at Alpine Hills operations coordinator Shelley Marchione.
Early morning tubers took turns flying down the slopes. Some even making it a family outing, but all say it’s a good place to spend a snowy Sunday.
“It’s a great family activity, it’s pretty affordable. It’s $10 for residents and $13 for non.” said Marhione.
Rachel Bradt, a first timer at the snow park, says the experience is leaving her with a good first impression.
“I really like the fact that everyone has been super polite.” said Bradt. “You know, it’s been a great experience all around. Everyone is well behaved and it keeps moving.”
For Bradt, the snow park will be added to the list of family fun in the Forest City.
“I think that it’s super important, especially to have things like this that are available, not just on weekends, but also during the week.” said Bradt. “I remember when I was a full time mom, it was insane trying to find awesome things to do with the kids on a regular basis and i think this is a great addition to the Rockford scene.”
