More Illinois residents blame House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) for Illinois’ budget crisis than do Governor Bruce Rauner (R-IL) according to a new poll released by Capitol Fax/We Ask America and printed in the political blog ‘Reboot Illinois‘.

By a decisive 55%-to-34% margin, poll respondents said they blamed Madigan, a somewhat remarkable finding when you consider that Illinois is overwhelmingly Democratic when it comes to party affiliation to the point where Democrats hold super-majorities in both the House and Senate in the legislature.

The poll, which asked, “The Illinois General Assembly has once again adjourned its spring session without a budget agreement – an ongoing situation that some feel is caused by a clash between Governor Bruce Rauner and Speaker Mike Madigan” produced only 9% saying both while 2% were undecided.
