Man accused in 2016 Oregon boating death offered plea deal

The man who is accused of piloting a boat while intoxicated and causing a crash that killed a woman in Oregon.

Marc Mongan appeared in Ogle County Court on Thursday afternoon. He faces felony charges for the June 2016 death of Megan Wells, who was thrown from her boat when Mongan’s boat crashed into hers.

The prosecution offered Mongan a plea deal, but the conditions of that deal have not been made public.

Wells’ parent opposed the deal in court.

If Mongan takes the plea, he will be sentenced by a judge. If not, he will face a jury beginning April 23rd.

Mongan has until April 17th to make his decision.
