A suspect is in police custody after he is detained by the owners of the business he was allegedly trying to rob.
Police responded to the robbery attempt at Miller Machine, 310 Peoples Avenue, around 7:30 Wednesday night. The owner and his son were inside at the time, due to recent burglaries to the business. They observed the suspect enter through a rear window of the building.
The owner and his son detained the suspect, then called 911.
Officers arrived and took the man into custody. He was identified as Robert Rees, 51, of Rockford.
Rees is charged with burglary and a parole violation.
