Man Arrested After Theft from Rockford Church

Police have arrested a man after a break-in to a Rockford church which resulted in the stealing of cash from an office.

Officers were called to the Greater New Jerusalem Church at 2105 N. Central Ave. by an alarm in the building at around 9:30pm Saturday.  They arrived to find a shattered window on the west side of the church.

Rockford Police Officers set up a perimeter and then searched the building where they discovered cash had been taken from the office.

Police also found 45-year-old Jerry W. Saylor nearby and arrested him after determining he has the stolen cash as well as drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Saylor is charged with Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
