One man is in custody after threatening police with a knife Monday night.

Rockford police attempted to pull over 34-year-old Phillip Douglas in the area of 7th street and 11th avenue.

Douglas initially fled and police stopped their pursuit. But ten minutes later, they spotted Douglas’ vehicle once again.  Douglas stopped his vehicle, got out and waved a knife at police, while demanding they shoot him. Warning shots were deployed by police and Douglas was taken into custody.

He faces numerous charges including aggravated assault to police and fleeing to elude.
