Man arrested for attempting to carjack woman in grocery store parking lot

A Rockford man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to carjack a woman in a grocery store parking lot.

On Tuesday, July 10th at 10 p.m., Rockford Police were called to the Schnuck’s parking lot in the 3100 block of 11th Street, where they met with a victim who had been sitting in her vehicle when Kenneth Latin, Jr., 20, allegedly opened her door, attempted to pull her out, and punched her in the face.

When the victim did not cooperate, the suspect fled on foot.

Rockford Police employed a K9 unit to track the Latin, Jr. to the back yard of a house in the 2900 block of Kinsey Street, where he was apprehended.

Latin, Jr. was charged with Attempted Vehicular Hijacking, Vehicular Invasion, Aggravated Battery, Resisting a Peace Officer and Criminal Trespassing.
